Crisis communications

The worst thing about a crisis is that it can hit you when you are least expecting it. With corporations under constant scrutiny from pressure groups and the media, the smallest incident can suddenly escalate into a full-blown disaster (as has been amply proved by some well known instances involving colas and chocolates in recent times). Such crises, when they occur, can damage your company in a variety of fundamental ways – impacting the business, shattering employee confidence and influencing the investors negatively. In some extreme cases, it could even threaten the very survival of the company.

Crises can stem from unexpected product defects, industrial relations, boardroom battles, takeover bids, souring family relationships and a whole host of other unfortunate events. Sometimes, the threats can be more obvious to outsiders watching the company closely, rather than the insiders who may be too deeply involved in day-to-day affairs to notice the larger picture.

The best strategy is, of course, to be prepared for potential crises – analyse the ever-changing situations with experts who can steer the company along the right course.

The Source works closely with clients to assess their vulnerability, and readiness to deal with a variety of crises. We can help corporates work out crisis communication plans and procedures, and handle emergency responses whenever required.

The Source understands that it is better to deflect a crisis than to allow it to escalate and then provide a knee-jerk response. We can help you manage these crisis situations, spotting them in many cases even before they actually occur. The Source also recognizes the importance of going beyond the immediate event, to help the company regain its credibility and sustain the loyalty of its customers, the morale of employees and the confidence of investors.
